ISLAMABAD, May 22 (ABC):The government has stepped up work on Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway (M-6), with three northern sections of the project expected to be completed between March and May 2029.
According to official documents available with Wealth Pakistan, for Sections IV (Naushero Feroz–Ranipur) and V (Ranipur–Sukkur), financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the prequalification (PQ) notice was published on 13th December 2025. The PQ Evaluation Report was submitted to the IsDB on 18th March 2026 and the award of civil works contracts is anticipated by September–October 2026, said a press release.
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) approved a financing of $475 million on September 29, 2025, for Section-IV and Section-V, while the financing agreement between the Government of Pakistan and the lender was signed on January 19, 2026.
For Section III (Nawabshah–Naushero Feroz), financed by the OPEC fund, the bidding document was forwarded to the OPEC Fund on 26th January 2026 for concurrence. Comments have since been exchanged between the parties, and final concurrence from the OPEC Fund is currently awaited. Authorities expect to advertise for bids in the current month, with contract awards targeted for October 2026. The OPEC Fund Board approved USD 230 million on 25th March 2026 to finance Section III.
According to the document, Sections I (Hyderabad–Tando Adam) and II (Tando Adam–Nawabshah) will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The Public Private Partnership Authority (P3A) Board approved the case for hiring an international financial institution as transaction advisor on 11th September 2025, with minutes received on 22nd October 2025.
The NHA Board subsequently approved the Asian Development Bank’s proposal on 26th March 2026, leading to the signing of the Transaction Advisory Service Agreement (TASA) with the ADB on 21st April 2026. The ADB is expected to complete its transaction advisory study within four months, with the concession award anticipated by February 2027.
