At Zanda Financial Services (the SECP-licensed team behind MoneyTap), our daily focus is often on numbers—loan approvals, credit limits, and processing times. But on July 13, 2026, our team stepped away from our screens and walked into a quiet corridor on Zafar-ul-Haq Road in Rawalpindi that has been transforming lives since 1904.

We visited the historic Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital to hand over a donation of PKR 500,000 to its operating charity, Aid to Leprosy Patients (ALP).

This visit wasn’t about public relations; it was a deeply humbling reminder of what it truly means to build a financial platform that is rooted in the communities we serve across Pakistan.

120 Years on the Frontlines of Healing

Many people think leprosy is a disease of the past, but the reality is quite different. For over 12 decades, the Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital has been a sanctuary for those battling leprosy, tuberculosis, neglected tropical skin diseases, and vision loss.

The dedication within these walls is personified by pioneers like Dr. Christine Brunhilde Margarete Schmotzer, who was recently honored with the Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam by President Asif Ali Zardari for her remarkable 37 years of selfless service to leprosy patients in Pakistan.

To put the hospital’s massive footprint into perspective, look at what this single institution managed to achieve in 2023 alone:

Department / ProgramAnnual Patients Served (2023)
Primary Eye Care Program (81 clinics across Punjab & KPK)120,000+ Patients
Community Development Programs50,000+ Clients
Skin Clinic25,000+ Patients
Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic~1,000 Patients
Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation1,000+ Patients
Leprosy & Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)400+ Patients

Why We Chose to Give

Through MoneyTap, we help everyday Pakistanis manage life’s unexpected expenses—whether that is a medical emergency, a school fee, or an urgent household repair. We see the financial struggles families face daily.

However, we believe that corporate responsibility means looking out for those who fall completely through the cracks. Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital runs 97 beds, a specialized orthopedic shoe workshop (for patients with physical deformities), and extensive clinics on a very tight annual budget of PKR 177 million. They rely heavily on the kindness of donors to keep their doors open.

Our donation of PKR 500,000, issued through the Bank of Punjab, is aimed directly at supporting the hospital’s day-to-day operational needs. It will help cover the unglamorous but vital running costs—cleaning materials, medical consumables, and daily utility expenses—that keep a hospital hygienic, safe, and functioning.

A Shared Responsibility

As a licensed digital lender regulated by the SECP, we understand that trust is a company’s most valuable asset. But true trust isn’t just built through secure apps and transparent pricing; it is built by showing up for Pakistan when it matters.

We are incredibly honored to play a small part in supporting the giant mission of the Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital.
