LAHORE: A breast cancer awareness seminar was organized at the Lahore Press Club in collaboration with HIMMEL Pharmaceuticals at the Nisar Usmani Auditorium. The event was attended by a large number of health experts, journalists, members of civil society, and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness, especially among women, about the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prominent oncologists, including Dr. Amira Shami, Director of INMOL Hospital, Dr. Farrukh Rasheed, Clinical Oncologist, and other medical specialists addressed the participants. They said that thousands of women in Pakistan are diagnosed with breast cancer every year; however, if detected early, the disease is completely treatable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Amira Shami emphasized that women should undergo medical checkups every six months, as breast cancer detected at an early stage is entirely curable. She added that breast cancer is not just a disease but also a social issue, since many women delay treatment due to hesitation or negligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Farrukh Rasheed highlighted the role of media, educational institutions, and the pharmaceutical industry, stressing that all sectors must work together to promote awareness and eliminate misconceptions surrounding this illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senior journalist and campaign organizer Muhammad Abdullah said that the Lahore Press Club has always played its role in addressing social issues and promoting public awareness, and today\u2019s seminar is a continuation of that commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants pledged to spread awareness about breast cancer within their communities, workplaces, and homes to help more women stay safe and informed. On this occasion, former Vice President of Lahore Press Club Amjad Usmani presented shields and certificates to the doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar concluded with an awareness walk, in which doctors, journalists, members of civil society, women, students, and people from various walks of life participated. The participants carried placards and banners inscribed with slogans such as \u201cEarly detection saves lives,\u201d \u201cSilence is not an option\u2014awareness is,\u201d and \u201cBreast cancer is treatable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
